Filming A Music Video!?

Hey m'lovelies! This post is so overdue considering the events that I'm about to unfold happened back in October, however it was way to awesome of an experience to not share with you all. So on the 26th of October I ventured up to Piccadilly Circus to take part in the shooting of the new Wings of Pegasus music video!

So for those of you who don't know who WoP are, they're a band fronted by the fabulous man that is Fil Henley, more commonly known as "Fil with an F" from The X-Factor 2013. Before Fil made his way onto the X-Factor and into our hearts WoP filmed a music video to their song "That's Metal" which I will enable below for you all. However, after the attention he received after his ITV appearance the decision was made to reshoot the video and give the fans a chance to get involved. This opportunity is what lead to me sitting on a train to London at 7am brimming with excitement.

So I arrived at Piccadilly Circus with my partner in crime and camera in hand where I saw Fil and the crew starting to set up for the shoot, this is where I had a problem, I'm awful at talking to people I don't know, even more so when they're well known. So after a few minutes of lurking I finally found the balls to say hi to people which resulted in me meeting a lovely girl who was soon to become my exercise buddy running laps of the plaza with me. So here's the basic set up of the shoot, Fil runs around Piccadilly shirtless playing guitar with crowds of fans around him going off the same theme as the original video. The shoot consisted of about six takes in total and god damn it I was determined to get in some shots!

After about the third shot me and Ann decided standing about smiling wasn't getting us anywhere and we decided to go full out. This of course involved making extensive plans of action for every shot and running around as fast as a pair of high heeled docs will allow, my old PE teacher would of been so proud of me! In the end it all paid off as we got a good headbanging session with Fil in and various other glimpses for us singing our hearts out, now all there is to do is wait until the video is realised in 2014 to see if we actually make an appearance exciting stuff!

Picture By Terry Payman: Can you spot us?

After the shoot ended and the crew left we got to have a good talk with Fil and he signed our flyers and even gave us free t-shirts. Him and the crew were lovely and the whole experience was definitely worth the hours in the cold and the sore feet in the morning. I've always wanted to be part of a music video shoot regardless of how small a part I had and now I've finally done it and it's something to tick off the bucket list!
Are any of you guys fans of wings of pegasus? Is this is the first time you've heard of them, if so give them a listen and what do you think? I'll catch up with you guys very soon!

Christmas is now Socially Acceptable!

Hey m'lovelies, So it's officially socially acceptable to start looking forward to Christmas at long last and nothing says Christmas quite like your head of year walking around the library singing festive songs. However, as I go to a sixth form full of (utterly wonderful) nutters, the Christmas cheer was more along the lines of "oh I wish it could be christmas everyday, then the shops would all be shut and everyone will starve"...Excuse me?

I'm such a Christmassy person so the second people start putting up trees and the markets are in town I'm all over it! For those of you that live in London I highly recommend going to the market taking place in Waterloo beside the London Eye, especially at night, nothing will get you in the spirit quicker then genius magicians, mulled wine and copious amounts of food. Alongside the festive markets and food there is something I like even more about Christmas and that is the excuse to do large amounts of shopping. Now I don't like to blow my own trumpet but I'm pretty damn good with finding Christmas presents for people and it's a great feeling getting to watch someone open something you'll know they'll love. However, this year trying to find a present for my boyfriend is proving to be a mammoth task made even harder by the fact we've put a budget on presents. So if anyone has any ideas on what to buy an aspiring Norse God for under £20 for Christmas let me know in the comments!

Carrying on with the shopping theme I was in the Oxford Street Primark the other week and I saw rails and rails of their really popular tartan dresses, we all know the ones I'm talking about right? However lack of funds and a comment that the dress looked like school uniform made me decide to leave it there on the rail...and god damn it's been following me ever since. Therefore the only logical explanation is that fate is working in magical ways and that me and that dress are meant to be together and I'm now setting out on a quest to find it and make it mine, perfect reasoning right?

The dress of Gods and School Girls alike
Aside from all the festive cheer going on in my life right now my one and only true love...Tubs, went in for her spay operation today and although it was a success she's been feeling a bit sorry for herself moping about the house. I'm hoping she'll perk up soon, I'm not going to lie I was having thoughts about her having puppies so I could fill my life with pugs, puggles, chugs and Pom-A-Pugs...okay maybe getting her spayed was the best decision for everyones sanity. Yet I still can't help but feel bad for my little ball of chub sulking in front of the fire.

Bad quality of a picture of a disgruntled TubTub
So have you guys all been getting in the Christmas spirit lately or are you reading this post and rolling your eyes at my enthusiasm for gimmicky little things? If you're the former then great we can all get together in our Santa hats for a night of Christmassy fun, if you're the latter...well more yule logs for me you scrooges (I'm kidding I love you all really)

Where on Earth Have You Been Missy!?

Hey m'lovelies, it's been a while hasn't it? Though my absence has all been in good reason which I will explain to you all in the next couple of paragraphs!

So recently I've been having a bit of a midlife crisis, quite sad considering that I'm yet to even turn twenty but I digress. As you all know from the post I put up just before my disappearance I got really sick, although it was nothing overly serious it completely wiped me out. I wasn't blogging, I wasn't going to sixth form I was simply existing, eating my body weight in mini rolls, playing the Sims and generally feeling a bit sorry for myself. Do to the large amounts of time I had on my hands I ended up doing a lot of thinking, a lot of over-thinking, and spent the fortnight contemplating every life decision I've made so far.

As I'm sure many of you are experiencing or have experienced at some point there comes a time in your life where you have to grow up, where you have to start making these huge life decisions. What do I want to do with my life? Am I studying the right things? Am I wasting my time? How do I work a washing machine? All these questions, and the reality is the only person that can truly answer these questions is you (minus the washing machine one, parents can be rather useful there). After a lot of thinking (and a lot more packets of mini-rolls) I came to some important conclusions about where I am in my life and I'm happy to report that I am indeed still very set on going to university and studying in my chosen profession and with all my university applications finalized I'm going full speed ahead with that.

Something I'd been forgetting lately
With all this going on I also gave my blog some serious thought, when I started blogging it was a hobby to help me get away from the intensity of my studies. But as people actually started to follow me and I realised people were reading my ramblings I suddenly felt obliged to keep on top of things and to do more reviews as that's where my main traffic comes from. As much as I love writing reviews for you guys they do take up a lot of time and buying products also can add up to be quite expensive and I realised I couldn't do this every single post. With me being such an all or nothing person this led to me avoiding my blog all together which makes me sad because this was such a release for me. So I made the decision to come back and just do things my way, old Alexi Metal Pirate style. I can't wait to update you guys on all the great plans I have ahead of me and maybe even share a snippet or two of my new found enlightenment with you (I'm clearly now going to become a great philosopher).

To long didn't read? In short I'm back! I want to carry on blogging but I feel like i haven't found my niche yet, and you know what? That's okay! So until I do this blog may be a chaotic mix of me going on about my life, the odd review and tutorial or maybe even things that are completely out of the ordinary! All I can say is that I love each and every one of you and I hope you'll sick with me while I try and figure this thing called life out, and hey, even if I don't you can read the chronicles of Alexi trying and failing to get her life in order and if nothing else may just make you feel a little bit better about yourselves haha!

Fitness Fridays: A day in the life of my diet

Hey m'lovelies, so when I said I was going to start FF I received an email from a lovely girl who wanted to see what I was eating day to day on my calorie restricted diet. Now i'm no nutritionist and my diet is far from good but it's a damnsite better then it was when I was eating takeouts every other day, probably still a bit carb heavy but I'm taking in so much less saturated fat and my body's really thanking me for it!

Now I took the pictures for this blog three weeks ago and have only just gotten around to writing it (oops!) but a little bit of background is that on this particular day I wasn't at home and was looking at potential universities so this is in a scenario where I was eating lunch out but it still gives you the general idea of what kind of things i'm eating during the day.

Breakfast was a pot of golden syrup poridge, poridge is so good for you, syrup maybe not so much but personally I can't stand the taste of porridge unless it's sweetened. I was up at 6am and in for a long day so this was great for slow realise energy and did tide me over until my late lunch.

Lunch was a M&S duck and hosin sauce wrap, now I like to think these are really good for you because of the protein and salad, however the reality of the situation is duck does have a far amount of fat in it and white tortilla wraps aren't exactly a shining example of health but everything in moderation! Besides, these are probably in the list of my top five favorite foods ever because they are utterly delicious!

Dinner was a king prawn stir fry with rice, sweetcorn, onion and broccoli. If you want to make this healthier I would definitely recommend using brown rice rather then white because it's so much better for you however this is what I had in my cupboards and this is what I made do with. Stir frys are my favorite thing to cook at the moment because they're so quick and filling and you can put pretty much anything you want in there. Dinner was followed by a bowl of light vanilla ice-cream, at only 40kcals a scoop I highly recommend this to any dieters with a sweet-tooth.

So that makes up the bulk of my diet for the day, throughout the day I try to drink as many fluids as I can, if you're not a huge water lover like me I highly recommend supermarket own flavored water, just make sure it's the ones with only a couple of calories because some brands can sure pack a lot of extra crap into something that's seemingly healthy! If I get peckish throughout the day I tend to snack on sugar free jellys however if I need something a bit more subtancial I find something light like an apple will tide me over until my next meal.

So hope you guys enjoyed the first post of this series, I'm really looking forward to it because I've just started up my health kick again and I can't wait to share with you what i'm learning. Until next time!

Being Sick Sucks!

Hey m'lovlies, so as you may have noticed I fell off the face of the blogging world for just over a week, which is such a pain considering I'd finally gotten myself into a routine. But for the first time in my blogging career I actually have a decent reason for not being active, I'm really really ill. Boo!

So just to fill you guys in a bit without going into any graphic details I've been feeling a bit ill for a little but and assumed it was a winter bug that was going around and didn't think anything of it. Now I'm a pro at convincing myself I'm dying and Googling my symptoms so it would be that the one time something was genuinely wrong that I dismiss it *sigh*. So I went into A&E last Sunday and they drugged me up on painkillers before sending me home so unfortunately I'm still waiting about on my local healthcare service to have some more tests done.

So due to this blogging isn't the only thing that's taken a hit, I'm really far behind on sixth form work and had to miss out on hours at my job. So today I've just been playing catch up trying to get everything back in order before Monday when I have to return to sixth form and just get on with things. Blogging should return to normal next week though so don't think I've abandoned you lovely lot because I've really missed seeing your comments! Side note this post was a lot longer and went into a lot more detail, then my web browser crashed and I lost it all so this will have to do for now, sorry!

I hope you're all well and I'll see you next week!
